Location: District Office
Rate of Pay: $120,000 - $145,000 (based on credential and experience)
Anticipated Start Date: August 19, 2026
Minimum Qualifications: NYS Certification as a School Business Leader (SBL), School Business Administrator (SBA), or School District Business Leader (SDBL); or eligibility for Civil Service appointment as a School Business Manager.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Reports to Superintendent
DISTINGUISHING FEATURE OF THE CLASS: The work involves Districtwide (includes central administration and all divisions) supervision and administration of the Business Office, Budgetary and Financial Operations; Treasurer and Purchasing Supervision; Internal Audit Supervision; and supervision of Operations & Maintenance, Food Service, and Transportation Supervisors in support of district finance & operations.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

Provide leadership in the creation of financial and operational systems that support the development and monitoring of the annual administrative, capital and all divisional budgets.

Provide guidance, assistance and direction in all financial matters that address the needs of the district.

Develop specialized and analytical reports used for both short and long term financial and operational decisions.

Supervise the administration of the comprehensive program designed to procure goods and services in a timely and cost-effective manner in accordance with current laws and Board Policy.

Serve on the negotiating teams, and assist in the formulation of management proposals; provide financial and budgetary data on the cost implications and operational impact of union proposals.

Monitor the district liability & casualty insurance program.

Direct day to day activities of the internal audit function.

Serve as a resource for the Superintendent and Central Office Leadership.

Ensure that all facilities necessary to conduct the operation of the district are identified, acquired, modified as necessary, and maintained in operable, safe condition for their intended use.

Work closely in conjunction with; and in advisement to central office leadership.

Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Demonstrated Understanding of, or experience with:
- BOCES aid;
- Liability; Casualty insurance programs;
- Budgeting; school finance, fund accounting, State Aid formulas and forecasting, required State financial reports, including year-end State Aide Claim reports and the ST-3;
- Contract negotiations;
- Municipality purchasing regulations;
- Fund and Cost accounting;
- Generally accepted accounting and auditing principles;
- Purchasing systems and fiscal oversight and accountability;
- Business office technologies, including proficiency with financial management systems and data analysis tools;
- Cash management, debt management, and investment practices;
- Food service, student transportation, and buildings and grounds programs;
- Comptroller’s regulations regarding Uniform System of Accounting;
- Payroll practices and wage and hour law;
- Ability to supervise staff personnel;
- Ability to establish and maintain good relations with representative of various groups such as staff, booster and community organizations, and school district leaders;
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
