SUBSTITUTE TEACHER CALLER
JOB DESCRIPTION: Call substitutes for all teachers in all three buildings from a list that is supplied from the Human Resources Office. Receive calls also from Nurses, Psychologists and Counselors.
The Caller is expected to have availability to receive calls, texts or emails. The Caller will also, on occasion, be called during the school day, if a substitute doesn’t show up, or if the teacher or administrator is looking for a specific person for the future. The Caller will handle long term substitute issues, i.e. maternity, unexpected long term illness etc. and will be available after the normal work day Monday-Friday and all weekend.
Caller must also be available during December, February, and April recesses for future assignments and during his/her own personal, vacation, sick days to still contact substitutes.
EXPECTED WORK ACTIVITIES:

For known absences, where practicable, the substitute caller shall contact substitutes at the latest the evening before the absence, not the morning of the absence;

Substitute caller shall make substitute arrangements, as needed, outside of the regular work day;

Substitute caller shall be available to communicate with substitutes and building administrators via text, email and telephone;

Substitute caller shall create a Google spreadsheet and a color coded Google calendar for substitute calling;

Substitute caller shall email the Google calendar every day by 6:30 a.m. to building administrators and secretaries;

If additional staff members call out after the calendar is sent to administrators and secretaries, the substitute caller shall send an update containing the new information;

Track the number of days for non-certified substitutes and ensure compliance with SED Regulations in accordance with direction from Human Resources;

Substitute Teacher Caller will coordinate, with the Substitute Teacher Aide Caller, the use of shared substitutes;

Other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
Tutoring:
Notified by the Superintendent's Office/Student Services Office/or individual buildings, regarding a need for a tutor for medical or discipline reasons. The building where the student is enrolled is contacted for address/parent information. The student’s needs are then assessed and a suitable tutor is chosen off the same list as the substitutes provided by the Human Resource Office. Contact with the tutor is frequent regarding work issues, discipline, home conditions, etc. Timesheet and scheduling issues are also discussed. Teacher contact is made to ensure work is being completed by the tutor. Possession of completed evaluations, on tutors, is required. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
